High School Placement Test Dates Fall 2025
Registration is now open in your parent MyPad account.
Students who score in the 90th national percentile or higher will earn a $1,000-$7,000 renewable Placement Test scholarship.
HSPT Accommodations: Padua will offer one HSPT each fall with an extended time accommodation for students with a qualifying IEP or 504 Plan. If your child has an IEP or 504 Plan that qualifies him/her for extended time, please submit the plan to Padua Admissions at least 2 weeks prior to the test. Plans should be submitted to Director of Admissions, Katie Martin '08.
Extended time testing accommodations will only be available on the November 8, 2025 test date.

*The December and January dates are meant to serve as make-up test dates for those late to the application process.
Please note: Students wishing to be considered for financial aid from Padua need to have Placement Test results submitted to the Admissions Office by November 17, 2025. Padua does accept test scores from other schools, as long as it is the 8th grade version of the HSPT.
Placement tests provide valuable insights into a student's academic abilities, and helps Padua make informed decisions when it comes to admissions and course placement.
For 8th Graders
- Registration for the HSPT (High School Placement Test) at Padua is required through MyPad. Due to space limitations, we may not be able to accommodate walk-ins.
- Parent information sessions will be held during the first 3 tests, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. in the Padua Library.
- The Placement Test fee is $20, which is non-refundable. Once you register, you will receive an email reminder a few days before the test with additional details.
- If your child does not have a MyPad profile, please complete this Inquiry Form.
Note: Padua only proctors the 8th grade version of the HSPT, even to 7th graders. This allows us to use the results for admissions. The Pre-HSPT is the 7th grade version of the test, scored with 7th grade norms, and is not updated yearly. To keep consistency and accuracy when it comes to the High School Placement Test in regards to admissions and course placement, Padua only accepts the 8th grade version of the HSPT.
Opportunities for 7th Graders
Practice HSPT Test
Padua offers a practice Placement Test in the spring of your child's 7th grade year, along with a HSPT Prep Course & Test in the summer. Both events require registration, which can be found in your Parent MyPad profile by mid-January. Padua proctors the 8th grade version of the test, so your results can be used for admissions to Padua.
Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- The placement test fee is $20 and is non-refundable.
- Log into your Parent MyPad account and choose the step: “Class of 2030 Practice HSPT for 7th Graders” and click on it to register.
Summer High School Placement Test Preparation Course and Test – June 9-12, 2026
Students will benefit from an expert briefing on the study skills needed to score well on the test. As part of this preparation, each student will receive a copy of the 550 page Master the Catholic High School Entrance Exams study guide.
On the last day, students will have the opportunity to take the Padua Placement Test and count it as their “official” score for 2027 Padua enrollment. If they are not satisfied with their score, they will have an opportunity to retake the test in the fall at no additional cost.
Your experience starts on Tuesday at 9 a.m. and is completed at 12 p.m. each day. The test will be on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Program is limited to 65 students.
The $130 (non-refundable) cost includes:
- Enrichment in Math and English
- High School Placement Test Preparation
- Free 550 page placement test study guide
- Opportunity to take HSPT (in summer and fall)
