Absence From School

When a student is absent from or tardy to school for any reason, notification by telephone (440.845.8882 or 440.845.8883 or 440-845-2444 x117) or email attendance@paduafranciscan.net by a parent or guardian is required by 8 a.m. each day the absence occurs.

Parents should contact the student’s counselor to make arrangements for makeup work if an illness involves more than two consecutive days of absence.

Please be prepared to give the following information:

  • Student’s name and grade
  • Caller’s relationship to the student
  • Phone number at which a parent or guardian may be reached for verification
  • Indicate if the absence is due to illness (provide symptoms) or other reason.

On the day of the student’s return to school, the student should report to the Attendance Office. The student will then be issued an “Admit Slip.” If a student is absent from class for any reason, he/she must present an Admit Slip or pass to the teacher the next time the student attends that class.

Attendance Office

The Attendance Office is located in the General Office. Students who have been absent or are tardy must report to this room before going to class.  Students who will be excused from school during the school day should also report to the Attendance Office to have their excuses validated.
