Class of 2027 Financial Literacy Requirement
The State of Ohio requires all students graduating in 2026 and beyond to earn one half credit of financial literacy. This provides an exciting opportunity for students to learn about some vitally important concepts which will ultimately help them make better financial decisions. In order to fulfill this requirement, we have elected to use an asynchronous program called AlphaJump. The program is taught via a series of modules, which include short videos, interactive materials, and brief quizzes. Students will have until the end of the first semester next year to complete, but it is highly recommend that students finish the course during summer break.
We are excited for you to begin this program and for all the important concepts you will learn. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email or stop by Mr. Dzik's office jdzik@paduafranciscan.net.
Opt-in for Text Messages
Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more. You can participate in this free service just by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587. You can also opt out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.
STATE SCHOLARSHIP
Every Student Needs to Renew Scholarship.
The EdChoice Scholarship and Cleveland Scholarship application window opened on February 1st. EVERY STUDENT MUST RENEW THEIR EDCHOICE OR CLEVELAND SCHOLARSHIP BY SUBMITTING A RENEWAL FORM AND UTILITY BILL. Katie Gardner has already emailed the renewal forms to all current families. The form is also attached below and paper copies are available in the General Office.
Income Verification
Income verification through the OH ID portal only needs to be completed by families whose Federal Poverty Level (FPL) is below 200%. Families may also complete income verification if their FPL has changed, for example, due to loss of income or a change in number of household members, in order to have their scholarship amount reevaluated. This is NOT the same as completing a FACTS Application for Padua financial aid.
Catholic Conference of Ohio Press Release - EdChoice
Brian Hickey, Executive Director for the Catholic Conference of Ohio
Following the ruling of a Franklin County judge on the EdChoice program, Brian Hickey, executive director for the Catholic Conference of Ohio released the following statement:
“We remain confident the EdChoice program will prevail in the appeals process. Ensuring EdChoice scholarships for students is a matter of social justice, as it allows for equal opportunities for all of Ohio’s children. It is also sensible public policy, encouraging a more robust education system for families that ultimately benefits society and the common good.
The Catholic Church will continue to advocate for and defend programs that support parents as the primary educators of their children and enable them to select a school that best suits their child’s needs. We are proud that Catholic schools in Ohio continue to flourish with ethnic and racial diversity while providing a rich spiritual and intellectual environment. Catholic schools, like other chartered nonpublic schools in Ohio, work closely with the Department of Education and Workforce to adhere to state chartering requirements, including operating standards, teacher licensing, state audits and approved testing."
