Padua Announces 2025 Hall of Fame Inductees

The Padua Franciscan High School Hall of Fame was established to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to the success of Padua in a significant way. The Hall of Fame recognizes nominees in the area of athletics, service, and volunteerism; success in their field of work; and community leadership.

Congratulations to the 2025 Hall of Fame inductees who will be honored at the Bruin Benefit on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

Zavagno

OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS AWARD

Awarded to a male alum who has made a major impact either in service to Padua, service to the community, or achievement in their chosen field of work.

David Zavagno ’72

David Zavagno is a proud Bruin from the Class of 1972 and after graduating cum laude with a Communications degree from Cleveland State University, David began an award-winning career at Xerox. His corporate experience plus an entrepreneurial spirit led to successful business ownership opportunities. David co-authored two patents and he founded Universal Medical Systems. He has taken on several leadership roles within the Padua community including serving as the president of the Alumni Association and as a member of the Board of Trustees. His commitment to the Northeast Ohio community also includes roles as the president of the Lake Erie Heritage Foundation and board member of The Perry Group. David and his wife Denise are regular attendees of Padua events and are members of the Friar Club.

Biehl

Michael Biehl ’74

During his Padua years, Michael Biehl ’74 epitomized the term student-athlete. Michael was a member of the National Honor Society and he was Most Valuable Player for the Bruins Football team. As a scholarship athlete, his football career continued at Ohio University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and then he followed that up with a Master’s of Business Administration from Northwestern University- Kellogg School of Management. His successful senior executive business career includes vast experience as a Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Executive Vice President and being awarded CFO of the Year by Crain’s Cleveland Business. Michael is a member of the Friar Club and he has served two terms on the Board of Trustees.

Grabowski

OUTSTANDING ALUMNA AWARD

Awarded to a female alum who has made a major impact either in service to Padua, service to the community, or achievement in their chosen field of work.

Laurie Keco Grabowski ’89

Laurie Keco Grabowski was the Class of 1989 Salutatorian and a National Merit Commended student. She completed her undergraduate studies at Miami University and earned her Law degree from Case Western Reserve University. After spending over a decade at Ernst & Young, a position in Padua’s Advancement Department led her back home, where Laurie served in several roles including Board of Trustees Chairperson, 50thAnniversary Chairperson, and Endowment Liaison. She is best known for her role as the initial Director of MedTrack® and for her 15 years of work with Padua’s flagship academic program. Laurie and her husband Scott are members of the Friar Club and Forever Franciscan Society.

FRANCISCAN MEDAL AWARD

Awarded to the individual, couple, or company who has actively worked toward the advancement of education of young people at Padua or in the Parma area.

Bob ’71 and Judy Mustee have partnered with the Padua community in various ways, consistently giving of their time, talent, and treasure. As members of the Friar Club, their generosity and commitment to Padua have continued throughout the years. The Mustees have been regular attendees and hosts of Padua events as well as strong supporters of the Bruin Benefit. In addition, Bob served as a member of the Board of Trustees. Through their continued leadership and support, Bob and Judy have greatly impacted people, programs, and projects at Padua Franciscan High School.

American Fleet Services has been generous supporters of Padua Franciscan High School throughout the years. For decades, Joe and Sandra Schuerger along with the AFS family have partnered with Padua in many ways including sponsorships, donations, and gifts-in-kind. Their generosity and leadership have made a real difference for our students and programs. Joe and Sandra are Friar Club members, Joe served two terms on the Board of Trustees, and Sandra was a longtime volunteer and fundraiser. An American Fleet Services guiding principle is that “you take care of people” and that is evident in their everyday business practices and especially evident in their partnership with Padua.
