Several MyTrack® Computer Science & Engineering students and three chaperones took a trip to Japan this summer.

The group stayed primarily in the Tokyo area, where they had some amazing science and engineering experiences. Students toured the Japanese space agency (JAXA), viewed an experimental Mag-Lev train going over 300 MPH, learned about the construction of the tallest building in Japan from a structural engineer (and traveled to the top...over 1,400 feet up), and how Japan prepares for natural disasters, such as earthquakes and tsunamis.

Also, students enjoyed cultural experiences, including visiting temples, a traditional Japanese village in the countryside by Mount Fuji, the various colorful neighborhoods of Tokyo, and many memorable and delicious meals. Students experienced a 12.5-hour plane trip to Tokyo, Tokyo traffic by bus, and even a bullet train during rush hour.
