Bruins Return from Service Trip to Dominican Republic

Padua faculty, staff, students, and alumni teamed up with Mission Possible, a non-profit organization run by alumna Sarah Krieger, '08, to once again be part of their week-long service immersion trip in Higuey, Dominican Republic in June. The trip was packed with meaningful experiences for the students and adults who made the long journey, including nightly prayer and reflection, a visit to the local basilica, and lots of repair and renewal work in the community. The participants focused on putting love into action as they painted, cleaned, dug ditches, spread gravel, fixed pipes, moved new families in, volunteered at a free medical clinic, and packed essential food items to be distributed to local communities such as rice and cooking oil. The participants lived into the Franciscan call to be one family of prayer, care, service, and peace-building, extending across all boundaries and borders. "Somos uno," their shirts read. "We are one."
